About

Why train at Brick City Martial Arts

Brick City Martial Arts is Temple, Texas' home for martial arts and kickboxing. Under Master Gene Vining — who has spent more than 40 years studying and teaching the arts — and head instructors Dane and Luke McDonald, we offer a complete program for kids and adults: Tang Soo Do and Machida Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Arts. Our classes stay small so every student gets real one-on-one attention, and our coaches meet you where you are — whether you're a three-year-old in Lil' Ninjas, a teen chasing a competition medal, or an adult wanting to get fit and learn to defend yourself. We teach respect, discipline, focus and self-confidence on the mat and off it. All experience levels are welcome.

A coach who invests in how you learn

At Brick City Martial Arts, our coaches are serious about being the best they can be — so they've joined a community of forward-thinking coaches, led by Greg Souders, who train with the constraints-led approach: a modern, games-based method grounded in motor-learning science. You learn by solving real problems on the mat — and build skill faster.

I grew up taking martial arts and grew into kickboxing, boxing and later I was a MCMAP instructor for the USMC back in the late 90's and early 2000's. I know a little bit when it comes to talking to a person and feeling if they are the real deal or if they are faking the funk for a check. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Vining, and after talking for a bit I knew this man was legitimate — like Heavyweight Champ Evander Holyfield, the Real Deal. For those wanting to learn the discipline of martial arts and self-defense he is the person I would go see far and wide, no matter what level from beginner to black belt. He has knowledge of all the modern fighting styles and years of experience as a true Master in the Arts. He is legitimate, honest, full of integrity and knowledge. If you have even been thinking about self-defense or martial arts training, then don't wait — call Mr. Vining at Brick City Martial Arts today!

Great martial arts. My daughter recently switched from kenpo karate and her kicks are much better than when she was in her old karate. Brick City gives a great amount of one-on-one help and the classes are a good size compared to huge companies, which is better in my mind. Thank you for your help making my daughter strong in mind and body.

Love Brick City Martial Arts! We've been coming here for 4 years and my kids have learned so much! The Vinings not only teach karate techniques, but definitions, focus, discipline, fitness, control, teamwork and hard work!

My daughter started class in the middle of June and it was the best decision we had made. She is in the Little Warriors class and Master Vining is a great instructor and so is Mr. Logan. My daughter loves attending their class and she just received her orange belt. If you are looking to put your child in martial arts, this would be the place to go.
